 About Larry Fike Larry Fike (Lawrence Udell Fike, Jr.) was born on the day the Peace Corps was founded. (That would be March 1, 1961.) He's taught philosophy courses during the '80s, '90s, '00s, and now during a fourth decade. He graduated with Departmental and School Honors from UCLA and then from Columbia University where he was named the Most Outstanding Advanced Graduate Student in Philosophy. He is a published poet, essayist, and lyricist, and has written a memoir. He occasionally performs stand-up comedy. He has read his poetry and delivered speeches to audiences both domestically and abroad. His areas of expertise include ethical theory, free will versus determinism, political philosophy, and issues that pertain to social justice. Larry's lyricism in songs such as "Yellow Bird" (The Great American Song Contest Prize Winner) and "Seeing Double" has been featured on shows such as NCIS, One Life to Live, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. His songwriting partner, pop music and recording artist Larry May, brought this to fruition. He's currently working on a stand-up comedy show titled, "You Can't Make This Stuff Up," and in July of 2011 published a memoir of the first forty-two years of his life, titled Piker, focusing on what it has taken to overcome severe child abuse. His 1996 poetry publication, Obstinate Air, is scheduled to be released anew by September 15, 2011, as is a second book of poetry titled Unheard Tick of Time. He divides his time among Southern California, New York City, Washington state, and various international destinations. He has two sons born fifteen years apart, which renders him prematurely aged. He is mated and is teaching at Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, California. Visit Joshua Tree, California!
