About Larry Fike Larry Fike (Lawrence Udell Fike, Jr.) was born on the day the Peace Corps was founded. (That would be March 1, 1961.) He taught courses in philosophy for 18 years after graduating with Departmental and School Honors from UCLA and then from Columbia University where he was named the Most Outstanding Advanced Graduate Student in Philosophy. He is a published poet and essayist and occasionally performs stand-up comedy. He has read his poetry and delivered speeches to audiences both domestically and abroad. His areas of expertise include ethical theory, free will versus determinism, political philosophy, and issues that pertain to social justice. Larry's lyricism in songs such as "Yellow Bird" (The Great American Song Contest Prize Winner) and "Seeing Double" has been featured on shows such as NCIS, One Life to Live, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. His songwriting partner, pop music and recording artist Larry May, brought this to fruition. He's currently working on a stand-up comedy show titled, "You Can't Make This Stuff Up," and will shortly be publishing a memoir of the first forty-two years of his life, titled Piker, focusing on what it has taken to overcome severe child abuse. Look for this to appear during 2010. He divides his time between Southern California, New York City, and Washington state. He has two sons born fifteen years apart, which renders him prematurely aged. Visit Joshua Tree, California!
